About five years ago, I left my life as a fashion stylist, decided to go to International Center for Photography and consequently, began traveling the world. I went to India and tried insufferably how to learn how to travel and forage the world alone. I went to Croatia and Bosnia and tried to immerse myself in a war torn country to see if perhaps I wanted to become a photojournalist, but I did not quite feel a perfect fit. I went to Central America, but all I really wanted to do there was learn to surf and leave my life in New York completely. And finally, I went to Vietnam where it seems everything seemed to fit into place. I traveled with assistants who have become best friends, I was given the Little Marc Jacobs collection to shoot and I found a place that was so captivating to me that I cannot wait to get back. The most significant thing I realized on those journeys however, was that in order to find your purpose in life, you really must simply just be in your life. And when I realized that simple truth of just being a part of my own life, the answers that I had been so painfully trying to find were right there in front of me. I realized that I wanted very much to photograph children and young adults not only because they are the most honest people on the earth, but because they know how to be in their life more than anyone else and I am reminded of that every day. It is because of them that I am finally on the right course and I am forever grateful.
